Paycheck calendar

The gap between payday and the bills, shown

A paycheck that comes every two weeks never quite lines up with bills that come once a month. Some months the rent lands just before payday, some just after — and between the two sits a stretch of days with less in the account than it seems.

JayCK Flow's month view for October: the salary on the 1st, the 15th and the 29th — every two weeks — and the rent on the 11th. The 11th to the 14th are red, between the rent and the next payday, and the balance card above names the lowest point: −$138 on October 12.

Two rhythms on one calendar

Enter the paycheck once, with its date and every 2 weeks, and each bill with its own — monthly, weekly or once. The calendar lays both forward, and every day shows the balance it ends on, so you see where each payday lands against each bill.

Three paydays in some months

Every two weeks is 26 paydays a year, so two months of most years bring a third. On the calendar they simply appear — this October has the 1st, the 15th and the 29th.

The short stretch, before it comes

When a bill leaves before the paycheck that covers it, the days between turn red — the balance below your safety buffer plus your reserved savings, or below zero if there is neither — and the balance card names the lowest point ahead and its date. Here the rent on the 11th leaves the 11th to the 14th short, until the paycheck on the 15th.

Move a date, or try a purchase

In What if?, move a payday by a day or add a purchase, and every day after it is redrawn before anything is saved; Discard puts everything back as it was.
